1976 was the Bicentennial of our country. 1976 also marked the opening of a new high school in Raleigh County, West Virginia - Independence High School. In 1976, Sophia and Stoco High Schools were merged into one - and three classes of students were interwoven with their former rivals to create an all new student body.
It didn't take these three classes long to find friendships and relationships with one another that have now lasted three decades. We, the classes of 1977, 78 and 79 are celebrating thirty years since the last class graduated from Indy - the same way we first found Independence - together, reunited to reminisce and celebrate.
Now that our 3 Class Reunion has taken place, this is the place to continue to reminisce about our classmates. Bookmark this site to keep in touch, to stay informed on classmate information, and for news on future reunions and events!
